SPRINT PNS for foot pain

Shirley

“The SPRINT System works!”

Before SPRINT

“Before having the SPRINT PNS System I cried a lot and couldn’t sleep,” Shirley Lynn says about her pain.

Shirley injured her ankle in 2012, requiring placement of screws. Several years later the screws were removed, causing nerve damage and the start of chronic and severe foot pain. Her foot and ankle were so sensitive sometimes she couldn’t even leave the house, because she was unable to put on her right shoe. The slightest touch to her ankle or toes was extremely painful.

After SPRINT

She was referred to Dr. Nashi, who suggested the SPRINT PNS System. Shirley is now several months from the 60-day treatment and says, “I feel so much better.”

She is now sleeping more comfortably and is able to walk and do housework with less pain.

SPRINT PNS for foot pain

Rich

Now Richie looks forward to getting back to the beach for the first time in four years.

Before SPRINT

Rich Saulle, who goes by Richie, was a Brooklyn Firefighter for 34 years until retiring in April of 2018. Richie had experienced chronic pain in his right foot since 1989 as a result of a sprained ankle. He limped for as long as he can remember. Surgery in 2015 didn’t relieve the pain. He had a second surgery in 2017 on the tendons and ligaments which finally relieved his right foot pain.

But years of compensating for the pain and putting all his weight on his left foot had taken its toll. As a result, Richie developed severe pain in his left foot. Pain so severe that even cortisone shots and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections provided no relief. Richie couldn’t enjoy his favorite pastime—going to Coney Island Beach. Simply putting his foot on the sand was excruciating.

After SPRINT

He was referred to a pain specialist, Dr. Rosenblum, who recommended SPRINT PNS and the device was placed in November of 2019. Since January of 2020, Richie has “very little pain left.” Before SPRINT he would rarely visit his best friend because it was so painful to go up or down stairs. He couldn’t carry his granddaughter or even walk around the corner with his dog.

SPRINT PNS for ankle pain

Denice

Now, Denice is able to be more present for her boys

Denice is the mom of two boys, ages 8 and 10. Her boys love baseball, and she loves watching them play. But her ankle pain often kept her from cheering them on from the bleachers.

Before SPRINT

Denice injured a tendon and had surgery to repair it in 2017. Unfortunately, she suffered nerve damage during the surgery that caused severe chronic pain. She tried multiple treatment options, including physical therapy, opioids, and injections. But nothing worked to relieve the pain.

The pain was so severe that Denice could barely sleep at night. She was exhausted every day which meant she wasn’t fully present for her boys. She would often have to leave her boys’ tournaments and games early since it was painful to stand and cheer for long periods of time.  This all changed when her physician, Dr. Seung Sim at OrthoIndy, told her about SPRINT PNS.

After SPRINT

Denice had her MicroLead™ implanted in November 2018 and was asked to rate her pain on a scale of 0-10 with 0 being no pain and 10 being the worst pain imaginable. Denice said, “I went in with pain at a 7-8, and came out with pain at 2.” She kept the stimulation on every day for 60 days, turning it off only to shower. During those 60 days her pain never felt higher than a 2.

Denice says that most of the time now, she has no pain. She sometimes has flare ups, but she doesn’t even take over the counter pain medication in those cases. She is now able to sleep soundly at night.

And now, many months after lead removal, Denice is able to be more present for her boys. She never worries about double header tournaments or extra-inning games anymore. With her pain gone, Denice can stay to cheer on her sons for as long as it takes.
