Joseph Boggs, PhD, Director of Research

 
Dr. Boggs joined SPR’s parent company NDI Medical in 2005 from his position as a research associate at Duke University. Prior to joining NDI, his academic work focused on developing pre-clinical neural prostheses and minimally invasive techniques to translate pre-clinical results to human trials.

As a Project Director at SPR Therapeutics and a Principal Investigator on NIH Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Grants, he has advanced the development of neurostimulation devices from early-stage research to demonstration of clinical feasibility. He has received several awards for his work in neurostimulation, including recognition by the Society for Urodynamics and Female Urology for his pre-clinical and clinical research in developing a novel method of restoring bladder control. Dr. Boggs been asked to serve on the editorial board for the Journal of Clinical Medicine: Urology and as a reviewer on NIH study sections for SBIR and STTR grants.

Dr. Boggs received a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Virginia and later obtained his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Biomedical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University.
